Safety From Thieves, Tornadoes, Bomb Blast, & Earthquakes: 3M Safety and Security Films

by Stopsun on April 5, 2012

Window film has many purposes.  It’s mainly used for blocking out the suns UV rays and heat generated by the sun.  But window film is also used for safety and security purposes.

From the high winds of a Hurricane or Tornado, bomb blasts, Earthquakes, break-ins, and other security and safety reasons, Safety and Security Window Film helps keep the window intact so that the glass won’t shatter and fly everywhere.   Here are a couple of video’s demonstrating what Safety and Security Window Film can do for you:

This first video demonstrates how a window would normally react to a bomb blast without 3M Safety and Security film:

Notice how the glass just shatters in all directions!  This is what causes most injury’s in Earthquakes, bomb blasts, etc. by the way.  Falling glass from buildings or flying shards of glass can cause someone to have a bad day.

This next video, though, demonstrates how a window would react to a bomb blast with 3M Safety and Security film as well as an attachment system:

Notice how the film keeps the glass intact!  Pretty awesome isn’t it!  Also notice how the window stays within the frame.  This is caused by the installer also installing an Attachment System along the boarders of the window. Having an attachment system is a must if the safety or security film has been applied after the window has already been put in the frame.

Using Security film is also a great way to keep intruders out of not only your business, but your home.  Here is a video showing you how difficult it would be for an intruder to get through glass that has 3M Security film on it:

Now this guy is an exception.  Normally an intruder won’t take this long to try and break in.  Criminals, in general, like to ‘smash and grab’ so they can get what they want and get out of there before they’re noticed and especially before the police show up!

So this is what Safety and Security film can do for you.  If you’re interested in installing this in your business or home, and you live in the San Diego, Orange County, or Riverside County areas, feel free to contact us and we can help you with any questions you may have.
